Toileting and Hygiene Management
Overview/Content
This training is designed for support staff assisting children or adults with a disability. Learners will be provided with the knowledge and practical skills for toileting and hygiene management relating to continence aids and menstrual care products. This training is competency based and as such to receive a Statement of Competence, learners must satisfactorily undertake an assessment of knowledge and skills.
Learning Objectives
- Provide toileting and personal care that upholds privacy, choice and cultural sensitivity
- Discuss methods of prompting autonomous toileting and hygiene management
- Describe and apply the correct infection control standards, use of PPE and manual handling techniques
- Identify and correctly use continence aids and menstrual care products in line with individual care plans
- Recognise and report health changes, including when to escalate concerns in line with the individual care plans
- Accurately complete documentation relating to toileting and hygiene management
