Overview/Content
This anaphylaxis course is based on the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and the Australian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) Action Plans and advice, and will give you the skills to recognise, treat and manage a severe life threatening allergic reaction, correctly use adrenaline auto-injectors and develop risk minimisation plans, anaphylaxis policies and communication plans.
The Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis contains two units, VU23090 Provide first aid management of anaphylaxis and VU23091 Develop risk minimisation and risk management strategies for anaphylaxis.

Learning Objectives

  • Confirm an allergic reaction and respond to the situation

  • Provide appropriate first aid response for allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis

  • Request assistance and communicate details of the incident

  • Evaluate response to the anaphylaxis emergency incident

  • Develop & review individual anaphylaxis management plans

  • Develop & review strategies to prevent allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis

  • Develop a communication plan to provide information about anaphylaxis & the organisations management policy

  • Complete documentation
