Frequently Asked Questions

This page contains answers to frequently asked questions about Premium Health and our courses. Check back for regular updates.

We often get asked whether our certificates expire. Technically, they don’t, however training should be refreshed at regular intervals to ensure you are competent and compliant when delivering those skills. Every course we offer is listed on our website and contains information regarding how frequently training should be conducted. Just find the corresponding course and look for the ‘Validity of Certificate’ area.

The First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice provides guidance on how frequently first aiders should complete training. The recommendations for our most common courses can be found below:

  • HTLAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (1 year)
  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support* (3 years)
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid* (3 years)
  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting* (3 years)
  • 22256VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace (3 years)
  • 22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis (2 years)

*The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that you update your HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation qualification every 12 months.

Mandatory pre-work must be completed prior to attending your face-to-face or live virtual classroom training session. Participants who have not completed it will not be permitted into the session and will need to rebook at full cost.

An instructional video on checking if you have pre-work requirements and accessing the subsequent resources can be found here.

Our online e-Learning programs vary in duration. We estimate the CPR online e-Learning to take up to 2 hours, and the First Aid to take up to 6 hours. These times are a guide online, and will differ for each learner.

Certificates are usually issued within 1 week of the training session. All students will receive an email notification when their certificate has been generated and will be able to download it via their student portal. Hard copy certificates can be issued upon request but fees will apply.

Delays may occur in receiving your certificate if we require a valid USI number for your training session, and do not have one on file. We will always reach out to you if this is the case.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is a nationally recognised single Unit of Competency. The qualification itself provides evidence that you have undertaken training which includes the elements and performance criteria as listed here. If you scroll down on the website page, you will see the assessment requirements of the course, which include a number of cardiopulmonary resuscitation elements. The HLTAID011 Unit nationally recognises that a student has successfully completed those cardiopulmonary resuscitation elements, and as such a separate HLTAID009 is not awarded.

We are aware that some other providers may issue a HLTAID011 Provide First Aid qualification which states other units on it. On the 31st August 2023, The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) released an update that addressed this area. They said:

Completing a unit with shared components doesn't mean a student can be issued another unit unless:

  • Both units are on scope of registration, and
  • The student has completed both units entirely.

For example, HLTAID011 shares components with HLTAID010, but completing HLTAID011 does not award HLTAID010.

If you have any further questions surrounding your qualification, please feel free to contact us directly.

For accredited courses, such as HLTAID009 Provide CPR and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, we cannot issue your Statement of Attainment without a valid USI number. The Australia Government requires Registered Training Organisations to collect and verify your Unique Student Identifier (USI) number. For more information, head to usi.gov.au.

We run face-to-face public first aid, health care and mental health courses at our Head Office location in Hampton East. We also run a variety of health care courses via live virtual classroom, which can be attended by any student, no matter your location. Our public dates can be found here.

Corporate training programs can be conducted across Australia. If you’re interested in a group session, please contact us today.

We offer a variety of health care training programs in a public format, either face-to-face or via live virtual classroom. If a course is run publicly, it will indicate this on the individual course page on our website, and public dates will display at the bottom of the page. To view all our public training dates, head here.
