Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel
This workshop will train you in the essential knowledge and skills you require to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus in an electrical industry environment. This does not include overhead lines and underground cables.
It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of live LV panel rescue equipment, and how it applies to electricity supply industry (ESI) workers and/or electrical industry workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.
This unit is specifically for workers in an ESI and/or Electrical Industry environment. Learners are expected to have knowledge of ESI and/or Electrical industry organisational workplace requirements.
Carry out rescue from a live LV panel
Complete the LV panel rescue procedure
- Hazard identification and risk control in live LV panel environments
- Electrical isolation point identification
- Safe approach distances and exclusion zones
- Inspection and use of rescue tools, PPE and equipment
- Workplace procedures, work instructions and emergency response protocols
- Accessing and isolating the LV panel
- Removing the victim safely and applying CPR
- Securing the site post-rescue
- Recording, reporting and communicating the details of the incident
