Overview/Content
This yearly MIE update supports best practice for immunisers, focusing on responding to adverse events following immunisation (AEFI). It incorporates essential CPR knowledge and skills within the context of an AEFI, developing clinical judgement, teamwork, and confidence under critical time frames. The workshop highlights relevant updates, examines clinical issues, and includes demonstration, practice, and assessment of skills.


Learning Objectives
  • Recognise life-threatening adverse events occurring immediately following immunisation (AEFI)
  • Recognise the signs, symptoms and differential diagnosis of immediate AEFI
  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Perform CPR procedures (infants, children and adults)
  • Review the incident
  • Communicate the details of the incident

1 hour and 30 minutes face-to-face assessment and online e-Learning
3 hours and 30 minutes face-to-face training and assessment

More About This Course
Approaches for the course include discussion, questioning and critical enquiry activities using immunisation emergency scenarios. Premium Health's nurse immuniser programs are only ever conducted by a nurse. Some of the topics include:
  • Responsibilities of the immuniser
  • Critical incident management
  • Infection control
  • Resuscitation
  • Recognition and management of anaphylaxis following immunisation






Public Dates

We have two types of delivery options for our public training courses:

  • 1.5 hours face-to-face assessment and online e-Learning*
  • 3.5 hours face-to-face training and assessment

*This delivery option has mandatory pre-work requirements which must be completed prior to attending your assessment session. You will be turned away from the assessment session if you have not completed your pre-work and will be required to rebook the training at full cost. Your pre-work requirements will be included in your booking confirmation email. Please reach out to us if you have not received your confirmation email and are unsure of the pre-work requirements.

Public training dates are typically released 3 months in advance. If sessions for your preferred training period are not yet available, we encourage you to revisit our website at a later date.
