Complex Wound Care Support Training
Overview/Content
This wound care microcredential aims to provide support workers with the essential skills and knowledge regarding different types of wounds. This information will assist support workers to recognise wounds which require review and be able to identify and report common wound complications. The trainer will discuss how to recognise those at risk of developing a pressure injury and implement appropriate prevention and/or management strategies. Students will learn about the risk factors associated with pressure injury development, the classification stages of pressure injuries, common strategies to prevent pressure injury development and how to manage pressure injuries. This complex care training is competency based. To receive a Statement of Competence, participants must satisfactorily complete an assessment of knowledge and skills. This course is consistent with the NDIS High Intensity Support Skills Descriptor for Complex Wound Care Support.
