Mental Health First Aid

Premium Health is pleased to facilitate Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses, as authored by Mental Health First Aid Australia, delivered by licensed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructors. This course is an accredited program based on the International Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) guidelines. This course is suitable for any adult who is providing initial support to another adult with a mental health (psychological safety) concern or experiencing a mental health crisis. The program explores the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems, where and how to get assistance and what sort of support has been shown by research to be effective.

Participants will be issued a certificate directly from Mental Health First Aid Australia.

More About This Course

Mental health first aid strategies are taught in evidence-based training courses authored by Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Australia and delivered by licensed MHFA Instructors across the country. We select our Mental Health trainers carefully. All are mental health professionals with appropriate qualifications, technical expertise and experience in the mental health (psychological safety) care sector. This enables them to provide you with quality training which is grounded in experience and knowledge of the field. Topics include:

Exploration of common mental health (psychological safety) conditions, including how to recognise signs and symptoms
Mental illness explored in detail : Depression, Anxiety, Psychosis, Substance Use
Mental health crisis first aid includes : Suicidal thoughts and behaviours, Non-suicidal self-injury, Panic attacks, Traumatic events and severe psychotic states, Acute effects from alcohol or other drug use, Aggressive behaviours
Understand how to assist colleagues, direct reports or others in the workplace
Learn where to direct the person to seek help (this may be your own employee assistance programs or broader professional programs)

Public Dates

We offer public training for Mental Health First Aid through our Blended Online Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace course. This delivery modality requires e-Learning online prior to attending a live virtual classroom training session. Access to this e-Learning will be provided 7 days prior to session commencement. To allow for online completion, enrolments for this course will close 8 days prior to course commencement. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Training dates can be found below.
