Overview/Content
This program is designed specifically for people supporting clients who receive nutrition through a PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) tube or PEJ (Percutaneous Endoscopic Jejunostomy). The course develops the essential knowledge and skills required to manage different types of tubes, feeding regimes and care of the insertion site and PEG tube.

We are currently only offering public training for this program through our live virtual classroom. Public dates are located below but course content varies to the face-to-face training. Please refer to our course 'Tube Feeding Management : Live Virtual Classroom Training' for content variations.

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate care of the tube

  • Demonstrate the care of the gastrostomy/jejunostomy site

  • Explain how to identify and trouble shoot common problems

  • Demonstrate safe giving of nutrients, fluids and medicines via a PEG or PEJ

More About This Course
We select our Premium Health trainers and assessors carefully.   • Understanding the reasons why a person may require a PEG/PEJ tube

  • Discussing the types of nourishment tubes

  • Recognising different feeding regimes

  • Caring for the tube and gastrostomy/jejunostomy site

  • Identifying and trouble shooting common problems

  • Giving of nutrients, fluids and medicines via a PEG or PEJ

  • Understanding the safe work practices and measures to be used in order to reduce the likelihood of injury

  • Administering a feed through a simulated PEG tube
