HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (previously HLTAID001)

This unit (previously known as HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation) describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a person (infant, child and adult) who is unresponsive and not breathing until the arrival of medical support and subsequent transfer to hospital. This unit will train students in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and applies to people who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. Our CPR training will train students to care for and manage a person in cardiac arrest and provide quality instructional skills on life support (correct ratio of rescue breathing to chest compressions). Each student will have their own manikin to ventilate and compress the chest to perfect their technique.

Our express delivery option requires students to complete online e-learning and assessment prior to attending an assessment ONLY face-to-face session. Learn at your own pace, in a time that suits you.

More About This Course

Your trainers all have 'lived' first aid experience, they are all qualified educators with nursing, paramedic or first aid industry experience - there can be no better trainer than one who has 'hands-on' industry experience. As a trusted professional, they will teach the "why" of first aid and are committed to you leaving your course with confidence and competence. Premium Health believes every student in our CPR courses should have their own manikin - this means there is no waiting around for "your turn". Learning is best remembered by "the doing", this means the more time you actively spend time on the manikin the greater the retention of the skill, so when you may need to recall how to do CPR you are more able to recall and perform the skill. Our CPR training will help you manage and care for a person in a cardiac arrest and teach you the skills of life support (correct ratio of rescue breathing to chest compression's) using the Premium Health Method. The DRSABCD action plan and responding to emergency situations
Managing unconscious casualties, infants children and adults
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), infants, children and adults
Using a defibrillator (AED)
Legal issues in first aid
Infection control

Anyone over the age of 14 years are eligible to attend. Students attending the course will be required to demonstrate their physical ability to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor. Public Dates

We have two types of delivery options for our public training courses:

45 minutes face-to-face assessment and online e-Learning*
2 hours and 45 minutes face-to-face training and assessment

*This delivery option has mandatory pre-work requirements which must be completed prior to attending your assessment session. This express assessment session is recommended for those who are undertaking a renewal. The 45 minutes is assessment of your skills – no training is included. You will be turned away from the assessment session if you have not completed your pre-work and will be required to rebook the training at full cost. Your pre-work requirements will be included in your booking confirmation email. Please reach out to us if you have not received your confirmation email and are unsure of the pre-work requirements.

Public training dates are typically released 3 months in advance. If sessions for your preferred training period are not yet available, we encourage you to revisit our website at a later date.
