Microcredential: Blood Pressure Recording

As part of Premium Health's Blood Pressure Recording Microcredential, students are required to demonstrate specified knowledge and skills throughout the training and assessment session in order to be deemed competent.

The following applies for training completed from the 1st January 2024.

The person named on the certificate has demonstrated the following knowledge and skills (in a simulated environment):

Prepare to undertake a blood pressure measurement using a digital automated device:

  • Recognise the role and responsibility of the support worker in relation to supporting a client to measure and record blood pressure
  • Apply infection control principles
  • Identify the required equipment
  • Prepare the client for blood pressure measurement and explain procedure

Undertake blood pressure measurement:

  • Correctly apply blood pressure cuff and position client’s arm
  • Switch on machine and follow device prompts

Complete the blood pressure measurement procedure:

  • Turn off device and remove cuff
  • Record blood pressure reading
  • Interpret and respond to an abnormal reading
  • Safely store equipment
