Premium Health’s response to COVID-19
In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Premium Health has implemented robust infection control measures to ensure the health and safety of our clients and our staff attending training.

We provide contact free first aid, health care and mental health training. As nurses, paramedics and mental health practitioners we are very clear about infection control during COVID-19 – in fact, we teach it! With respect to the delivery of specific courses in first aid and health care that require human-to-human contact, we have put in place alternative measures to minimise the need to practice on others.
The Government has stressed that the measures of practicing good hygiene and keeping a physical distance between individuals are in place to fight this virus. We discuss with each of our clients:
- The requirement for masks to be worn during training
- The 4m x 4m and 1.5m social distancing guidelines apply
- PPE such as gloves which will be used for some assessments
- The cleaning procedure for our resources
- Specific modification for assessments such as imitating breathing into the manikin for CPR.
All our trainers have been briefed on social distancing and changes to our courses especially in CPR and First Aid programs. In these courses all trainers are equipped with ACTAR manikins which have a closed ventilation system where each participant’s manikin has an individual, singular use, plastic lung bag that captures the participants breath and droplets. We do not use Resusci Anne manikins as it does not have a closed ventilation system per individual and therefore cannot provide adequate infection control protection in a class environment without considerable changing of parts.
