When it comes to mastering practical skills, the significance of hands-on training can’t be ignored. Students will receive a comprehensive training pack allowing them to both practice and be assessed in the practical areas of these complex care skills.
Our nurse educators, qualified in assessment, will help to ensure your staff are confident and competent. Students who successfully complete our knowledge and practical skills assessment will receive a Statement of Competence after the training.

DO YOU KNOW THE STEPS FOR URETHRAL CATHETER CLEANING?
Proper care is crucial for clients who need extra support. Here are some key steps:
Preparation and Privacy: Ensure privacy, following infection control and personal care procedures. Explain the process to your client and gain their consent. Ensure you have the right equipment on hand.
Inspection: Regularly check around the catheter for any secretions or unusual drainage.
Cleaning: Carefully clean the area where the catheter exits the body wiping away from the catheter (with soap, water and a clean washcloth).
Rinsing: Use a fresh washcloth to rinse away any remaining soap.
Drying: Carefully pat dry the area around the with a new washcloth, making sure not to pull on the catheter tube.
Post-Care: Cover your client, remove and dispose of gloves, and wash and dry your hands as per infection control procedures.
Documentation: Don’t forget to document all actions and observations according to your organisation’s standards.
