Premium Health is pleased to facilitate Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses, as authored by Mental Health First Aid Australia, delivered by licensed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructors. The Mental Health First Aid refresher course is designed specifically for participants who have accredited as an MHFAider within the last three years. This course enables them to update their knowledge and skills in a supportive learning environment. The refresher includes new material, visual learning aids and an updated manual for each participant. For accredited Mental Health First Aiders, the course also provides an opportunity to extend current accreditation for a further 3 years.
Prerequisites
You are eligible to attend a refresher course if you have accredited as an MHFAider within the last three years. To attend this course, participants MUST bring their original MHFA certificate or evidence of previous attendance to their instructor on the day of training. Participants can contact Mental Health First Aid Australia directly (03 9079 0200) to confirm their status if they do not have this information or are not sure of the attendance dates.
Delivery Mode
Premium Health offers 2 delivery modes. These modes give you the opportunity to choose the way you would like to undertake the course. The blended option offers an online interactive component followed by online live (zoom) training.
- 4 hours and 30 minutes face-to-face training
- 2 x 2 hours and 30 minutes live virtual classroom training and assessment
Qualification Issued
Participants will be issued a certificate directly from Mental Health First Aid Australia.

Mental health first aid strategies are taught in evidence-based training courses authored by Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Australia and delivered by licensed MHFA Instructors across the country. We select our Mental Health trainers carefully. All are mental health (psychological safety) professionals with appropriate qualifications, technical expertise and experience in the mental health (psychological safety) care sector. This enables them to provide you with quality training which is grounded in experience and knowledge of the field. Topics include:
- Understanding the latest research in the mental health field
- Revising the mental health first aid action plan (ALGEE)
- Reviewing the 3 key actions for helping someone feeling suicidal
- Work through complex mental health first aid interactions
- Practice their mental health first aid skills in a supportive learning environment
