Microcredential: Epilepsy and Seizure Support Training and Midazolam Administration
As part of Premium Health's Epilepsy and Seizure Support Training and Midazolam Administration Microcredential, students are required to demonstrate specified knowledge and skills throughout the training and assessment session in order to be deemed competent.
The following applies for training completed from the 1st January 2024.
Duration: 3 hours and 30 minutes training and assessment
The person named on the certificate has demonstrated the following knowledge and skills (in a simulated environment):
Prepare to deliver personal support for a participant with epilepsy:
- Identify general epilepsy seizure triggers
- Outline several safe work practices to be used to reduce the likelihood ofinjury during a seizure
- Describe the management of partial and generalised seizures
- Follow a support plan for epilepsy and seizure management
Provide personal support for a participant experiencing a seizure:
- Demonstrate management of unconscious participant on the floor and in a seated position
- Demonstrate in a simulated environment the correct technique of intranasal midazolam administration via the drip method
- Demonstrate in a simulated environment the correct technique of buccal midazolam administration via the ampoule method
Identify documentation requirements.
