Overview/Content
The ability to apply safe manual handling principles and techniques is an essential skill for support workers supporting clients with reduced mobility. This course is designed specifically for people working as home care workers, personal carers, nurses, aged care or disability support workers and develops the knowledge required to recognise the manual handling tasks performed when supporting client/s, the ways in which these tasks may lead to injuries, and how using safe work practices when assisting their client can minimise the risk of these injuries occurring.
This program is focused on information, support workers require assisting clients who are both semi-dependent and dependent, developing the manual handling knowledge relating to client transfer from bed to chair/wheelchair, sit to stand and walking with aids.
The ability to apply safe manual handing principles and techniques is an essential skill for support workers assisting clients who have reduced mobility. This presentation by a health educator is relevant for support workers in residential care, aged care, day programs and hospitals.
