1 in 4 people with a disability are likely to have epilepsy. This program is a must for support workers who support clients living with epilepsy. The program develops the essential knowledge to understand and recognise epilepsy, its trigger factors and the different types of seizures. The management of different seizures is thoroughly explained. The trainer will examine and discuss different types of medications used to treat epilepsy, as well as strategies for minimising the risks for clients with epilepsy during everyday activities.
This course has an additional short module introducing the safe principles and techniques of Midazolam administration in accordance with a generic client's epilepsy management plan and emergency medication plan.

- Discussing the effects and possible side-effects of Midazolam
- Outlining the information required to manage seizures from a care plan
- The first aid management of status epilepticus
- The process of administering intranasal and buccal midazolam
