People with dysphagia experience difficulty swallowing and have special care needs. This program is designed for support workers to develop the knowledge to assist clients with their special needs when living with dysphagia. This knowledge includes assisting with the safe ingesting of food, beverages and medicines and understanding the use of a texture-modified diet and consistency modified fluids. The program will also discuss recognising and taking appropriate action for a client who is choking.
