Support workers have an important role to play in assisting clients with diabetes with their daily self-care. The program develops the knowledge to understand the types of diabetes and their medical management. Common diabetic emergencies, complications of diabetes and strategies for management of diabetes including lifestyle measures are discussed as well as common medications used to treat the condition. Demonstration will be given in blood glucose testing.
