Ballistic Wound Management including Life-Threatening Haemorrhage (Bleeding)
Ballistic Wound Management including Life-Threatening Haemorrhage (Bleeding)
Overview/Content
Designed by experienced military special operations medics, this course is designed to instruct participants in the implementation of life-saving interventions for life-threatening haemorrhage (bleeding) for limb, junctional, chest and abdominal areas of the body from a sharp edge or ballistic intrusion.
The application of combat arterial tourniquets (CAT), haemostatic dressings (such as QuikClot combat gauze) and vented chest seal application are time-critical skills. If applied correctly and quickly, traumatic bleeding may be controlled and lives saved. Our training will provide participants with the underpinning theory of haemorrhage (bleeding) control along with hands-on practice in the application of the haemorrhage control kit contents.
Participants will be introduced to the concepts of the human response in emergencies, ballistic wound anatomy and pathophysiology, specific ballistic injury relevant to the calibre of the proposed semi-automatic rifle and mechanism of injury and life-threatening haemorrhage (bleeding) control.
In highly immersive situations, using quality training adjuncts such as silicon cubes, simulated bleeding limbs, tourniquets and haemostatic gauze with contextualised training scenarios participants will be instructed and assessed in the management of varying wounds and will be required to assess and apply the most appropriate treatment method.

More About This Course
Your trainer will be an experienced military paramedic - there can be no better trainer than one who has "lived" the experience. As a trusted health professional, they will teach the 'why' and "how" of life-threatening haemorrhage and are committed to you leaving confident and competent after your course.
Our training delivery is innovative and stimulating, with highly practical "hands on" and realistic learning activities. Premium Health's experiential learning model is person centred and uses tailored simulated critical incident exercises and high-quality resources to facilitate a realistic environment for participants to test their knowledge, skills, and responses.
