Schools First Aid


Premium Health offers a comprehensive first aid training package specifically designed to meet the essential needs of school personnel.

The School First Aid Essentials program incorporates the following units of competency.
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid
  • 22282VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
  • 22300VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis


  • Course Delivery

    This course is delivered in a flexible mode with self-directed study undertaken prior to attending a one day face-to-face practical training and assessment workshop. Participants will receive a PDF workbook and questionnaire that must be completed and brought to the training workshop.

    $169 per person - minimum group numbers apply

    The School First Aid Essentials content includes:

    • How to respond to an emergency situation
    • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (infant, children and adult)
    • How to communicate the details of an incident
    • First aider responsibilities
    • OHS/WHS legislation (Act and Codes of Practice)
    • Infection control
    • Eye injuries
    • Poisoning
    • Burns
    • Bleeding and shock
    • Heart and respiratory conditions
    • Altered conscious states (seizures, fainting, head injuries, diabetes)
    • Anaphylaxis
    • Strategies to prevent allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis
    • Fractures, sprains and strains
    • Asthma
    • Risk minimisation and emergency management plan for an asthma episode

    Assessment Tasks:

    • Demonstrate competent CPR performance on an adult and infant manikin
    • Complete a workplace incident report form
    • Apply first aid procedures for a variety of first aid conditions
    • Demonstrate competent administration of an asthma medication reliever via an inhaler
    • Complete two workplace incident report forms
    • Develop a risk minimisation and emergency management plan for an episode of asthma
    • Demonstrate competent performance using an adrenaline auto-injecting device
    • Develop a risk assessment for at individual at risk of anaphylaxis and complete a risk management checklist form
    • Complete a written assessment

    What is a USI?

    The Unique Student Identifier or USI is a reference number made up of 10 numbers and letters that:

    • creates a secure online record of your recognised training and qualifications gained in Australia, even from different training organisations
    • will give you access to your training records and transcripts (available in mid 2016)
    • can be accessed online, anytime and anywhere
    Do I need a USI?

    The Student Identifiers Act in 2014 requires that all students enrolled in nationally recognised training provide their Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with their USI. This is applicable to all HLT and VIC units.

    How long is my course valid?

    Provide First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis are valid for 3 years. It is recommended by the ARC that Provide CPR is updated annually
