Managing challenging behaviours

This training workshop is aimed at people who support individuals with challenging behaviours. The training will explore mental illness and physical care needs to understand some very challenging behaviours. Assessment and understanding of behavioural symptoms and triggers, behavioural strategies and intervention will be explored.

The workshop will use verbal and non-verbal strategies to de-escalate conflict and use problem solving techniques to reduce challenging behaviours. Scenarios and role playing are an essential component of developing positive transferable skills.

What is a USI?

The Unique Student Identifier or USI is a reference number made up of 10 numbers and letters that:

  • creates a secure online record of your recognised training and qualifications gained in Australia, even from different training organisations
  • will give you access to your training records and transcripts (available in mid 2016)
  • can be accessed online, anytime and anywhere
Do I need a USI?

The Student Identifiers Act in 2014 requires that all students enrolled in nationally recognised training provide their Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with their USI. This is applicable to all HLT and VIC units.

How long is my course valid?

Provide First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis are valid for 3 years. It is recommended by the ARC that Provide CPR is updated annually
